A year ago today

A year ago today I received the email stating my acceptance to this teaching program.
Today there are just 2 ½ weeks remaining of said program.

A year ago today I shared my excitement, about moving to France, with friends and family.
Today I am trying to understand how this experience has gone by so quickly while cherishing the little time I have left with the new friends I’ve made.

A year ago today I had been studying the Duchy of Burgundy in an Art History class.
Today I am a resident of said duchy’s capital city, walking the same streets that dukes Phillip the Good and Charles the Bold did so many years ago.

A year ago today I had never been to Dijon or any other part of Burgundy.
Today I feel proud to be partially bourguignonne- knowing I’ll take this region’s history and traditions with me wherever I go.

A year ago today college graduation and “the real world” intimidated me.
Today I feel courageous and excited to take on whatever will come next.

What a difference a year makes.
